Officials Respond to Suspicious Item at San Diego International Airport's Terminal 2 Baggage Claim

Officials opened up a previous cornered off section of San Diego International Airport's Terminal 2 Baggage Claim after investigators responded to a suspicious item. An investigation found the item was not suspicious. 

A San Diego Harbor Police spokeswoman said around 3 p.m., during a routine inspection, a K9 was alerted to a cart rental device at Carousel 3. San Diego MAST was called in to investigate. 

SDFD Captain Amador said a K9 was alterted or picked up a scent on a cart rental box. 

The area was blocked off to travelers as they investigated. Officials opened the area back up again around 4:20 p.m., NBC 7's Matt Rascon reported from scene. Harbor Police said nothing suspicious was found. 

No further information was immediately available.
