More Weekend Quakes Shake Up California

Two more quakes struck California's Coast Sunday following a series of others that shook the region early Saturday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a quake of 4.1 magnitude hit at 5:03 a.m. Sunday, followed by a 3.0 temblor eight minutes later.

Both quakes were centered 14 miles north of Trona, 14 miles north-northeast of Searles Valley, 19 miles southwest of Telescope Peak, and 31 miles northeast of Ridgecrest.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.1 struck the Kern County area Saturday but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

A preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit shortly before 1:15 p.m. Saturday and was centered 30 miles northeast of Ridgecrest.

The quake followed a 3.2-magnitude temblor which hit the same area at about 3 a.m.

A pair of small earthquakes also struck the Salinas Valley in California's Central Coast region Saturday, but there were no reports of any damage or injury.

A preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-3.2 quake hit just before 5. A second quake of the same magnitude in the same location followed two minutes later.

The quakes were centered near the town of Armoas and about 35 miles from San Jose.

A 3.0-magnitude quake struck the same area at about 10:30 Friday night.
