The decomposed bodies of a married couple were found Monday afternoon inside their Oceanside home after, according to a suicide note dated nearly two weeks earlier, the husband fatally shot his wife before killing himself, Oceanside police said Tuesday.
Tyrone Knight, 53, and Vanessa Knight, 46, were discovered after 5 p.m. at 5110 North River Road. Neighbors called officers to the scene to check on the couple's welfare after not seeing them for about a week..
A suicide note from the husband was dated June 24 and indicated he had killed his wife, and the stage of the bodies' decomposition was consistent with the date, said Lt. Leonard Mata.
The two bodies were located in separate rooms, and the weapon, a handgun, was found on the scene. This would be the county's fourth murder-suicide since late May.
The couple lived alone.
The investigation is ongoing.
