Three people were arrested in Valley Center Sunday after a high-speed chase between cars, reportedly started by the theft of an iPad, officials said.
The incident started around 6:45 p.m. when two vehicles were traveling at high speeds and ran a red light at Cole Grade Road and Fruitvale Road.
When deputies pulled over both cars, one driver told them the chase started over a stolen iPad.
The second suspect then fled the scene, stopping about a quarter of a mile down the road to let one passenger out of the vehicle.
The car continued along Miller Road, coming to a stop after it crashed into a tree, deputies said.
Deputies caught two suspects hiding in a ravine with the help of a K-9 officer named Shark.
The third suspect was later taken into custody after he had knocked on a neighbor’s door and the residents called the authorities.
