Crash Closed Hwy Offramp

 A highway offramp was closed during the Monday morning commute after a serious accident in Logan Heights.

Two men were taken to UCSD Medical Center with critical injuries.

The 24-year old driver sustained a broken neck and will be paralyzed from the neck down if he survives. His 25-year old passenger suffered a traumatic brain injury and had bleeding in his lungs.

The the two drove from Coronado on the wrong side of the road around 1 a.m. Coronado Police drove on the correct side of the bridge, warning people about the driver.

Cars peeled off to the right and left, getting out of his way, according to the San Diego Police traffic division.

The driver finally got off Interstate 5, using the 28th St. on ramp. He hit a curb. One hundred feet later he hit a light pole. Several streets were closed between 27th and 29th, but reopened by 6:30 a.m.
