Three Mexican nationals are in custody, accused of trying to smuggle nearly two dozen illegal immgrants in a small boat off the coast of La Jolla.
Border Patrol agents spotted the suspected illegal immigrants near Dog Beach in Del Mar around 4:30 a.m., according to the U.S. Coast Guard, according to a published report.
A short time later, the Coast Guard intercepted the small boat and towed it to their headquarters.
Earlier this week, another Mexican national attempted to smuggle in more than 70 suspected illegal immigrants inside a tractor-trailor. He was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Pine Valley checkpoint Sunday.
