Attempted Kidnapping Suspect Sought in Mountain View

The suspect attempted to kidnap children in the Mountain View area at least three times in the past two weeks

Police are looking for a man suspected of attempting to kidnap several children in the Mountain View area.

According to police, an unidentified man tried to kidnap elementary school-aged children on at least three separate occasions over the past two weeks along the 3500-3700 blocks of Oceanview Ave. and the 3500 block of Logan Ave.

The latest kidnapping attempt happened Wednesday.

Each time, police said the man tries to lure children into his car by offering them money.

The suspect approaches the kids as they’re walking home near Emerson/Bandini Elementary School. When the kids refuse the money, the man orders them into his car.

Police said all three incidents occurred between the hours of 1:45 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

All children involved safely ran away and were not injured.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s with salt-and-pepper hair but bald on top, a white goatee and a pot belly. The vehicle is described as a red truck and also a red sports car with a damaged bumper on the front passenger’s side.
