Parents Go Shopping While Leaving Sleeping Toddlers in Mall Parking Lot

Police say the two children were left in a stroller behind a parked vehicle.

Two parents have been arrested after allegedly abandoning their two young children at a Cerritos mall parking lot while they went inside to shop.

Saud Audousari and Muneirah Almowanas were arrested for felony child endangerment after they left their two sleeping children, ages 2 and 3, inside a stroller behind a parked vehicle while they went inside to shop at the Los Cerritos Center, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Police say a woman flagged down patrolling deputies around 8:15 p.m. Friday when she found the kids in the parking lot. At about 9:35 p.m., the deputies found the parents and arrested them.

The children were taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital "as a precautionary measure" and later placed under the care of the Department of Children and Family Services, the LASD said.
