Ice-Cream Truck Kills Toddler on Birthday

MUSCOY, Calif. -- A Southern California family celebrating a girl's 1st birthday is devastated when she is run over and killed by an ice cream truck.

Diana Morales was watching her brother buy candy from the ice cream truck Wednesday evening when she was run over in rural Muscoy, some 60 miles east of Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The girl's family had planned to throw her a birthday party that evening.

CHP Sgt. Daniel Temple says the ice cream truck driver, a 47-year-old San Bernardino woman, didn't know she struck the girl until officers found her later. The woman wasn't cited.
