Celebrate Dia de los Muertos

There are Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) events around town near where you live:

Old Town Celebration: Decorated altars honoring the dead will surround the Bazaar del Mundo and Casa Guadalajara. Oct. 31- Nov. 2.

Playa Gallery: 2940 Adams Ave, Normal Heights,  Nov.1 from 7-10 p.m. San Diego artists pay artistic tribute to the Mexican tradition.

Copley Symphony Hall: 750 B Street, San Diego. Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 to  $80 per person. Come celebrate the lives and music of Mexico's greatest musicians with frequent Holiday Pops guest artists Mariachi ChampaΓ±a Nevin, joined by internationally renowned Mexican vocalists and folkloric dancers.

Escondido Celebration, California Center of the Arts: Flowers, photos, food and much more on a grid. By the end of the day the grid transforms and is filled with tokens of love for lost ones. The event is free and open to the public. It begins on Nov. 1 and can be viewed through Nov. 7.

Oceanside 8th Annual Celebration: Downtown streets will be filled with flowers, altars, skulls and skeletons and other items to celebrate lost loved ones. Pier View Way at Coast Highway, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4  p.m.

Sherman Heights Celebration: Traditional Mexican altars will be constructed inside the Community Center, located at 2258 Island Ave, San Diego. There will be food, folk art and many other activities for the whole family to enjoy.Guided tours for the outdoor altars will be available on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They will depart at the Villa Montezuma on the corner of K Street and 20th Avenue.
