Why so salty, San Diego? Maybe you need a free party with great live bands and craft-beer happy hour freebies to help break you out of your funk!
SoundDiego LIVE heads south tonight -- to Imperial Beach's Salty Frog, to be exact (located at 992 Palm Ave.) -- for our next soiree and we've got three killer bands on board, along with host J-Mar (who you've seen interview some of the raddest bands around on SoundDiego TV), and our famed happy hour courtesy of Mason Ale Works.
RSVP for SoundDiego LIVE at the Salty Frog tonight!
Can you believe it'll be our 65th party? Truth be told, we're stoked to take our talents to South Bay because, pro tip, it sports some of the most vibrant music coming out of the San Diego music scene.
The night's headliners? None other than the Blank Tapes. Based out of LA, Matt Adams' longtime lo-fi, psychedelic-pop/rock act has been hailed as "a bent version of '60s pop...really fun" by NPR and sounds like "the Archies if Lou Reed had written their songs," according to the New Yorker. In other words, the music is incredible and you won't want to miss 'em. Do yourself a favor and check out Adams & Co.'s latest album "Candy" here -- and thank us later.
Also along for the trip? None other than Bad Kids -- who, if you've been paying attention, wrote the infectious ear candy theme song you hear everytime SoundDiego TV airs on NBC7 after "Saturday Night Live." Fresh off the release of their excellent new EP, "Love Is Where it Fell" (listen here and read our review of it while you're at it), the homegrown Imperial Beach-repping crew (who were nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 San Diego Music Awards) always put on a fun live show and we couldn't be more stoked to have 'em on board. Nothin' says epic party more than Bad Kids, amirite?
Last but definitely not least, we tapped Coral Bells (also from Imperial Beach) to open the shidig, mainly because we fell in love with the band's folk/indie-rock sound upon first listen. For a group that started out by busking on the streets of Ocean Beach, they've established themselves as one of the hottest up-and-coming groups in town (they were nominated for Best Indie/Alternative act at this year's SDMAs). Just scope the video for their tune "Seasick" here and see what we mean.
