See what's on tap in North County San Diego

In the last 6-8 months local brewing companies have stepped up the North County San Diego beer game, opening their doors to rave reviews on Yelp and loyal local followers.

Here are Yelp North County's pick for places to cheers with beers this spring!

Fezziwig’s Brewing Co.
5621 Palmer Way, Carlsbad
Perhaps top hats are in order? The steam-punk inspired names on the menu and décor (work in progress!) has North County’s beer geeks all a’ flutter! Don’t be afraid of spirits haunting the brew haus, Marley’s Ghost goes down smooth. The Tiny Tim Cream Ale will warm your heart and is perfect for sunny San Diego Summers. Rumor has it this brewery is addressing some changes in the future: What’s in a name anyway? Calm your concerns; the fine brews will still be in your stein.

Belching Beaver Brewery
980 Park Center Dr.,Vista
If you haven’t made it over to BBB since they opened last fall, you’re slacking on your hops, homie. Every group of guys who go out beer tasting want to open their own brewery, well these guys actually did it. The silky Beaver’s Milk on Nitro is a Yelper favorite and the Dam! Double IPA is not only clever but also tasty and a judge's favorite. The Rabid Beaver Bite is actually a clean IPA and local Poway wildflowers make an appearance in the Me So Honey Wheat Ale.

Rip Current Brewing
1325 Grand Ave., San Marcos
The brewers have cooked up batches of every beer style possible and consistently produce a broad range of selections pleasing the local community. They’ve got a German Rye with clove spice and banana notes and have given a nod to the SD “May Gray” with the hoppy Marine Layer San Diego-style Hefeweizen. For those of you pulled by that tide out to sea they toss Rescue Buoy Russian Imperial Stout your way… saving the day? Indeed!

Culture Brewing
111 S Cedros Ave., Solana Beach
South Cedros will never be the same now that straightforward Culture Brewing has landed a few doors down from the Belly Up.  Yelpers report sophisticated suds, an urban vibe and best of all? It’s dog friendly! The Black IPA is getting rave reviews, and rumors of subtle coconut notes in the Imperial Stout have everyone curious. Early this month the Hefeweizen (Their ninth beer style) made its May debut. The website is still under construction but those taps? Open for business.

Wiens Brewing Company
27941 Diaz. Rd., Temecula
Forget the wine association, this is serious beer territory. Tipping their hat to Temecula references you’ll find the Front Street Lager with its malty frothy goodness and the Old Town Amber tapped and ready to go! Bring your half-gallon growlers to get topped off with Descend, a Black India Pale Ale that’s complex and aggressive. The tasting room is open till 8 p.m. most days, so let your friends wander through the wine: We’ll meet you for a pint!
