LEGOLAND turns 20 in March and is planning a big celebration throughout the year that will include reveals of two new LEGO characters.
LEGOLAND California Resort first opened its doors on March 20, 1999. At the time, it featured 12 rides including a miniature town built entirely out of LEGOs known as “Miniland, USA.”
Now, it has grown to include the Sea Life Aquarium, LEGOLAND Water Park, the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel and offers more than 60 rides, shows, and attractions.
For its celebration, a new 20th Birthday Dance Party will feature the two new LEGO characters named Jake and Emily.
The new LEGO characters are named after the most popular boy and girl names back in 1999.
The party will also include dancers, bubbles, and even a seven-foot-tall LEGO birthday cake that can be seen daily starting Mar. 16 through Sept. 1.
In addition to the dance party, there will also be a new show called "LEGO Friends Birthday Show" and will feature exclusive birthday desserts, pop badges and more.
For those who visit the park on LEGOLAND’s official birthday, the first 1,000 kids will receive free child-size mini figure hands.
Guests will also be treated to a special birthday-themed park opening ceremony where one lucky kid celebrating their birthday will get an opportunity to officially open LEGOLAND for the day.
The park has free admission to kids age 12 and under on their birthdays.
All 20th birthday activities are included within the price of admission into LEGOLAND California Resort.
