A San Diego holiday tradition will go dark this season.
The drive-through light display at the Del Mar Fairgrounds will be closed due to a $5 million track-widening project.
More than 400 lighted and animated displays are usually set up along the track for the event called "Holiday of Lights."
Cars packed with families drive slowly around the dirt race track and enjoy jumping displays of elves, snowmen and of course, Santa.
Last year, nearly 20,000 vehicles came to see the spectacle.
