Sounds Like San Diego: May 14

Nada Surf celebrate the 15th anniversary of their third album at Belly Up

If you've been on Facebook lately, you've seen people endlessly listing their "10 most influential albums." I like to think my musical tastes are always evolving and changing, and yesterday's favorite might be replaced with an artist who doesn't yet exist, but still, there are albums that over time, I've connected with more than others and one of those is Nada Surf's "Let Go." It's not a unique story ... I knew the band from their '90s hit "Popular," but it wasn't until someone I dated reintroduced the band to me that my love was rekindled. The guy didn't last, but Nada Surf did, and 15 years later this album is still everything to me. Tonight, they will play it in its entirety along with other favorites from their records over the years. There is no opener; this is a full two-set night with Nada Surf, and I'm super excited about it. Around town, Casbah hosts "Unhappy Hour" with Robert Lopez, aka El Vez, and Soda Bar hosts a night of sludge and metal with Cough.
