Summer’s about to take a dive right into the deep end -- and then wiggle and bob to the sound of heavy bass from the EDM ear-blasting that is the Dive Day Club. This Sunday, May 17, the Vegas-style pool party returns to Harrah’s Resort Southern California for a third season, marking the beginning of a summer full of Sunday fun days.
For the opening-day soundtrack, the DDC booked Yellow Claw, who “Rolling Stone” spotlighted earlier this year as one of their 10 artists to watch, drawing comparisons to RL Grime and DDC alum DJ Snake, among others. The Dutch trio pride themselves on their ability to drop the beats to get you to the dance floor -- or in this case, the pool.
The complete summer lineup is still unfolding, but it’s shaping up to be a season full of madness. DJ Vice of Los Angeles, who's worked with such artists as Rihanna, Teagan & Sara and Capitol Cities, is picking up Memorial Day weekend. Following that, EDM /hip-hop blender Brillz (who you might know from his remix of Jay Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulders") and progessive-house beatmaker Henry Fong (who you might know from his super babe status) coming in after that.
If last year -- which saw monsters like Flosstradamus, Dillon Francis, Blasterjaxx and Dada Life blowing up the DDC -- is any indication of what's to come, then get thee to the lazy river, my friends (it is 400-feet long). Or to the swim-up bar (the only one in SoCal). Or one of the 20+ cabanas. Whatever your swimsuit pleasure, the summer is just starting -- and a week earlier than usual.
