7/4:Red, White, BOOM!

RED, WHITE, BOOM!: Start celebrating America’s freedom as early as 7 a.m. at Brengle Terrace Park in Vista. Food and drink stands, picnicking, and a static display of vintage military equipment will be going down into the night with a firework display at 9 p.m. Musical entertainment by Two of Us Plus One (3p.m.), All American Boy Choir (5p.m.), Fabulous Ultratones (7:30p.m.). If you want to get up close and personal with the fireworks, premium reserved seating is going for $65 per person. Click here to make your reservation.

INDEPENDENCE BAY: Come out to the San Diego bay for a spectacular fireworks show. If your not on a boat, best bet is to watch the sky light up from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the North Embarcadero, Seaport Village or Coronado Landing. Worried about parking? The Port of San Diego has set up free parking lots with shuttle service to Harbor Island and Shelter Island. The lots will open at 5 p.m. and the first shuttles will depart at 5:30 p.m. The final shuttle will be at 11 p.m.

HOME OF THE FREE: Americans are blessed to be free, but freedom is a foreign language to many countries, and even in parts of America. The San Diego Freedom Walk seeks to raise awareness this Independence Day of the 27 million people around the world that are involved in “human trafficking and modern-day slavery.” Meet at the Casa del Prado for an un-conventional July 4 and to walk 3 miles for a good cause at 5 p.m. Read more about the Freedom Walk here.
