As we get close to three hours past the deadline for MLB teams to set their 2015 Opening Day rosters, I thought about something A.J. Preller said on Saturday about the last-minute decisions the team had to make.
One comment kind of hinted at a possible trade, which would explain why things are taking so long. Preller has assembled so much talent that the Padres are now in a position where they can dictate the kinds of moves they make instead of being backed in to a corner and forced to deal (Exhibit A: the Adrian Gonzalez trade).
Listen to the last thing he says in this video clip. Instead of being the one asking for a deal, Preller has everyone else coming to him. What a nice situation to be in!
