Pregnant Woman's Accused Killer Arrested

Willie Davis Hines is accused of murdering Tatjana Cruz and her unborn child

A man accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend to death was arrested yesterday at Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego after making a chilling confession on his Facebook page.

Willie Davis Hines fled to San Diego after allegedly beating his pregnant girlfriend to death in San Bernardino County last Wednesday, according to police.

On Tuesday, officers say the suspect flagged down a security guard in a Fashion Valley Mall parking lot and told him he was wanted for questioning in a murder.

San Diego Police took him into custody.

Hines got into an argument with his 24-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Tatjana Cruz, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. When deputies responded to the domestic dispute, they say she was unconscious.

“Shortly after her arrival at the hospital, the victim's unborn fetus was found to be deceased, possibly as a result of the victim being assaulted. The victim/mother (was) in critical condition with major head and upper body injuries,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The victim died two days later.

On Hines’ Facebook page is a long letter claiming the deaths were an accident.

“I know you all have made your Judgment and have spread that throughout our community. There is no excuse for a Man to ever put his hands on a Woman for any reason,” the post read in part.

The post has accumulated hundreds of comments.

"All I am saying Is please get all the facts before you point the finger and call me a beast, a monster, someone who should be killed," he wrote. "I [l]ove Tatjana but I did not beat her to death. That's not how it happened. I do not beat women and I have never been known to treat women vulgar."

Hines is being held without bail on two counts of murder.
