Victim, Attacked in Oceanside Alleyway, Dies: PD

A 20-year-old Fallbrook resident found severely assaulted in an Oceanside alley has been pronounced dead, Oceanside police said, launching a homicide investigation. 

Emmanuel Thomas, 20, of Fallbrook, was removed from life support and pronounced dead on Friday at Scripps Memorial Hospital. 

Thomas was found injured Friday morning in an alley west of the 300 block of South Coast Highway, Oceanside Police Department Lieutenant George W. Darrah said. 

Paramedics rendered aid when they arrived on the scene, and Thomas was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. 

Once at the hospital, doctors determined that the victim's injuries were consistent with an assault, according to investigators.

Thomas was placed on life support. At approximately 3 p.m. that same day, he was taken off life support. His cause of death has not been determined 

The case remains under investigation. 

No arrests have been made.
