Truck Crashed in Ravine

Several fire engines parked along the highway above the wreckage

Rescue crews called for chainsaws to help remove a truck that crashed into a Solana Beach ravine Friday.

The accident was reported just before 10 a.m. along northbound I-5 just south of Via de la Valle. California Highway Patrol officers issued a SigAlert because emergency vehicles were blocking the number five lane.

The accident was originally reported to CHP as involving a tractor trailer but it appears to be a white pickup truck in the brush.

A trail leading up to the wreckage shows the path the truck took from the northbound lanes into the bushes.

One person was transported to a nearby hospital. No word on the extent of the person's injuries.
