The U.S. Coast Guard says it has suspended its search off the San Diego coast for a boat that was reported to be in distress with a man and three children aboard.
The Coast Guard said it called off the search at 11:46 a.m. Thursday, after scouring the area for more than nine hours.
The search began after a towing and salvage company, Vessel Assist, picked up a distress call at about 5 p.m. Wednesday and notified the Coast Guard.
A man said he was with three children on a 20-foot Sea Ray that was taking on water near San Diego's Point Loma peninsula.
But no one else, including San Diego Lifeguard Services and the Coast Guard, picked up the call and no one has reported the boat overdue.
