SDSU Police Search for 2 Suspected Car Thieves

San Diego State University police are hoping the public can help them find two people suspected of stealing a vehicle.

Officers started chasing a stolen white Toyota on Montezuma Road, a pursuit that led them to northbound Fairmount Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. Monday.

When the driver tried to go onto the eastbound Interstate 8 on-ramp, he lost control at the freeway entrance and crashed.

The driver and his female passenger took off on foot. The man was last seen in the area north of Motel 6 on Alvarado Canyon.

Police say the woman was later picked up by the driver in a newer, white SUV β€” possibly a BMW β€” and they were seen speeding off east on Interstate 8.

Investigators do not believe the suspects are SDSU students.
