A San Diego woman whose son was killed in the Benghazi consulate attack criticized President Barack Obama for statements he made about Libya on "The Daily Show" according to a published report.
'It was a disrespectful thing to say and I don't think it's right," said Pat Smith whose son, Sean Smith, was killed on Sept. 11. Smith, 34, died alongside the U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, 42, of Encinitas and Ty Woods, 41, of Imperial Beach. Smith was working as an Information Specialist at the consulate while Doherty and Woods were said to be providing security according to family members.
Obama appeared on the Comedy Central show with Jon Stewart after the second presidential debate at Hofstra University and he defended his response in the aftermath of the attack in Libya.
“I would say, even you would admit, it was not the optimal response, at least to the American people as far as us all being on the same page,” Stewart said.
President Obama, agreeing that the response to the attack was “not optimal,” maintained that his administration kept Americans informed.
'My son is not very optimal - he is also very dead,' Pat Smith told the DailyMail Friday.
'How can you say somebody being killed is not very optimal? I don't think the President has the right idea of the English language,' Smith is quoted as saying in the British paper.

“I've not been "optimal" since he died and the past few weeks have been pure hell,” Smith continued.
A week after her son's death, Smith spoke with NBC 7 San Diego and described how she was consoled by the president and his advisors at a ceremony held on Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
She said she cried on the shoulders of President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.
“I couldn’t believe how they made me feel. They made me feel so wonderful,” she said in an interview Sept. 18.
To the DailyMail, Smith said she has been demanding answers from those same leaders and not getting the information she wants.
“I am still waiting for the truth to come out and I still want to know the truth. I'm finally starting to get some answers but I won't give up.”
