The bodies of Michael Medford, 50, and his wife Rochelle, 47, were found inside their apartment at the Waterstone Apartment Complex off El Camino Real. Detectives said there were no signs of violence or a break in.

A newly released toxicology report explains the mysterious deaths of a Carlsbad couple.

Michael Medford, 50, and his wife Rochelle, 47, both died from an accidental overdose of alcohol and heroin, according to the Medical Examiners office.

The Medford's bodies were found inside their apartment at the Waterstone Apartment Complex off El Camino Real on Nov 7. Investigators said the bodies were found the by the couple's adult children.

Neighbors were curious to figure out what happened to the couple.

"Really scary I'd really like to know what was going on, where I live," said neighbor Kristina Farmer on the day the bodies were found.

Michael Medford, a construction worker, was on parole for grand theft according to police.

The couple's 20-year-old son, Nick, told our media partners the North County Times that his parents had coached youth baseball and his father was a construction worker.

He also said his parents were good people who loved their three children.
