Missing Mother Went to Buy Hair Dye

Family concerned for woman who went missing in South Bay last Friday

Benjamin Lopez fights back tears. Since last Friday he and his family have been spreading the word all over the South Bay about his missing mother.

58-year-old Josephina Yolanda Lopez, of Long Beach, was staying with her sister for the holidays when she went missing on the 23rd.

“She usually just leaves for a couple of hours and she'll be back. It's not like her to leave and not come back,” said Lopez.

She was last seen by a neighbor at the CVS at the corner of Palm Avenue and Picador Boulevard, just a few blocks over from her sister's house in Otay Mesa. Her sister says it was supposed to be a quick trip to buy hair dye.

“I tried to go like 45 minutes after and didn't see her around I walked inside the store and everything,” said Lucy Baltazar.

The family is working with San Diego Police but tell me every minute is crucial, especially since she has several health conditions. "She has diabetes type 2 and she does have bipolar and we're just worried sick about her."

And until they find her, this holiday season will remain on hold.

“I know it is pretty cold out right now, she wasn't wearing much clothing…if somebody sees her please contact the police.”

Lopez has brown hair and eyes, is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing a beige thermal sweater, blue jeans and white shoes.
