A man repairing a vehicle just outside his home in Chula Vista was killed after the car fell on top of him, trapping him underneath, officials said.
The deadly accident happened Wednesday evening near a home on Colorado Avenue.
Chula Vista police officer Patrick Alvarez said the victimโs son-in-law called police around 5:10 p.m. to report that the car โ an older Mercedes-Benz โ had fallen on top of his father-in-law.
When officers arrived, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alvarez said the manโs death likely occurred a few hours earlier, and he had been underneath the car ever since. No one witnessed the incident, as the victim was outside alone working on his car.
The victimโs name has not yet been released, but officials say heโs in his 60s. He is survived by several family members, including his wife.
