California lottery players will get extra chances to win big if they visit one of the casinos in San Diego County.

It’s the first time the state of California has partnered with a casino and the only partnership of its kind across the state.

Throughout the month of February, players who purchase $5 or more in lottery scratchers in San Diego County will be able to enter in a special promotion at Viejas Casino and be able to enter a "second chance drawing" through the lottery's website.

Players who've spent $5 or more in scratchers will get an instant voucher that can be redeemed at Viejas Casino for a free $1 California Lottery Scratchers ticket, according to lottery officials.

Also, those players will get the chance to play a Mega Machine Kiosk at the casino. Here, they've got the chance to win a drawing into a $15,000 Mega Money drawing held every Saturday. The casino will fund this prize along with more than 22,000 other prizes from the kiosk ranging from cash to more lottery tickets.

Players who purchase $5 or more in scratchers will also be eligible to enter to win a second chance lottery giveaway worth $5,000, according to lottery spokesperson Bill Ainsworth.

"There’s a lot to be gained by both parties. The lottery gets to tapped into the Viejas Casino customer base and good name," said Ainsworth. "Viejas gets to do the same thing.”

This partnership isn't an exclusive arrangment according to Ainsworth who said the state would be open to negotiating similar programs with tribes in other parts of the state.

For more information on the program and rules, visit the lottery's website or call 1-800-LOTTERY.
