San Diego Police shut down the southbound portion of Rosecrans Street Friday night following a two-vehicle collision.

Authorities responded to the suspected DUI-related car accident at Rosecrans and Laning Road, near Liberty Station, at around 9:30 p.m.

The two vehicles involved were a Toyota Sequoia and a Mercedes.

According to police, it appeared one car ran a red light and T-boned the other. A total of eight people were involved in the accident, at least three of them children. Police said at least one victim suffered major trauma.

The San Diego Fire Department performed a vehicle rescue at the scene because at least one person was trapped inside one of the cars.
