Sheriffs have arrested a man suspected of a hit-and-run that wound up killing a pedestrian in a wheelchair in Flinn Springs Friday night.

According to authorities, the fatal collision happened around 9 p.m. on the 15141 block of Olde Highway 80.

CHP said a black SUV struck a female pedestrian, then fled the scene.

The hit-and-run victim, 50-year-old El Cajon resident Laurie Susan Whitlow, was in a wheelchair apparently attempting to cross the street when the collision occurred.
She was thrown from her wheelchair into the traffic lanes and died at the scene, according to CHP.

On Saturday, police arrested 36-year-old Anthony Olsen in connection with the hit-and-run.

Police said several witnesses identified Olsen’s vehicle and when authorities contacted him, he admitted to the collision.

Olsen was booked into San Diego Central Jail at 3:45 p.m. for felony hit-and-run.

His bail is set at $50,000 and his arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.
