Additional crash on SR-52 causes traffic delays

Lanes have opened up again, and traffic is moving again after a multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 15 northbound just south of Poway Road.

Four lanes of traffic were closed for morning commuters Thursday. The California Highway Patrol reports that as of 7:20 a.m., all lanes were open to traffic.

Just before 8 a.m., all lanes appeared to be moving at normal speeds.

Calls to authorities reported a vehicle crashing into a stalled car. Several other cars also collided at about the same time, spreading debris across the freeway.

Four to five patients were taken to nearby hospital according to San Diego Fire Rescue.

Traffic was backed up as far south as State Route 52, where another crash at about 6:15 a.m. caused a major traffic backup near Mast Boulevard. In that accident, two cars collided, sending one car down an embankment.

Speeds on much of the eastbound SR-52 slowed to single-digits as crews worked to clear the crash at around 7 a.m.

By about 8:30 a.m., traffic was back to normal speeds.
