Chula Vista firefighters controlled a fire at the South Bay YMCA early Tuesday.
Fire crews were called around 4:30 a.m. to the 1201 Paseo Magda location. When they arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the northeast corner of the building.
No one was inside at the time and no one was injured officials said.
It took approximately 15 minutes to knock down the fire. Damage was contained to one classroom according to Chief Jim Garcia.
