Deadly Accident Shuts Down Highway

The accident killed one person. Another person was airlifted to a local hospital.

A least one person died and another was trapped after an accident in Alpine, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A black pickup truck went off the roadway at about 7 a.m. Thursday on westbound Interstate 8 near Dunbar Lane and rolled onto Old Highway 80, according to the CHP.

At least one person died. Another was rescued and airlifted to a local hospital.

Old Highway 80 was closed in both directions near Dunbar Lane. The closure was expected to last for at least two hours.

It’s not clear what caused the accident.
