Conan O'Brien Coming Back to San Diego for 2017 Comic-Con

For the third year in a row, the late-night host will tape his talk show from the Spreckels Theater in downtown San Diego amid the frenzy of Comic-Con

Late-night funnyman Conan O’Brien plans to return to San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC) next month, hosting his talk show from downtown San Diego as the four-day pop culture convention unfolds.

From July 19 through July 22, O’Brien will embark on another edition of what's known to fans as "ConanCon." He will tape his TBS show at the historic Spreckels Theater on Broadway – the same venue he took over in 2015 and 2016 during Comic-Con.

In those prior "ConanCon" years, O'Brien hosted a slew of high-profile celebrities at the San Diego tapings, including actress Jennifer Lawrence and her “Hunger Games” co-stars in 2015, as well as the cast of “Game of Thrones.” In 2016, the stars of "Suicide Squad" dropped in.

For four days, fans lined up outside Spreckels Theater hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities and, of course, snag a selfie with O’Brien.

Now, ConanCon will go down again -- likely with the same fervor from fans.

On Friday, O'Brien's Team Coco website announced that those who have badges to next month's Comic-Con could begin requesting free tickets to the tapings.

Comic-Con attendees can register here to be placed on a waiting list for four San Diego tapings: 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19; 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 20; 4 p.m. on Friday, July 21; 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 22.

The tapings are for fans age 16 and older. Putting in a request for tickets doesn't guarantee entry -- fans will have to wait for notification via email if they're among the lucky chosen ones. They will have to pick up their tickets at a specified time before the taping.

O’Brien’s show will also make a limited number of standby tickets available on the day of each taping. Those tickets will be available just before showtime each day -- if there are any empty seats to fill in the theater. Most of these seats will be single seats throughout the venue. For those standby passes, fans can go to the Team Coco Ticket Space at 969 1st Avenue at 8 a.m. on the morning of the taping they’d like to attend. There, wristbands will be distributed to the first 200 fans and hopefuls will be given details on a location and time to return to see if they will be getting into the taping.

For more information on tickets to Conan at Comic Con, call (818) 977-3056 or reach out via email to tickets@conacotv.com.

For now, O’Brien’s celebrity guests for his Comic-Con tapings are unknown, but if it’s anything like last two years, some very recognizable stars will walk through those doors at Spreckels Theater, ready to get their geek on with Coco.

San Diego Comic-Con runs July 20 through July 23 at the San Diego Convention Center.
