A teenage son rushed to his father’s aid after two men attacked the 67-year-old man inside the family’s Clairemont home.

The father and son were at their home on Raffee Drive around 8 p.m. Monday when two masked robbers entered the home and attacked both of them with an aluminum baseball bat.

The son heard the attack going on when he tried to help his dad by intervening.

“He was in his bedroom and he heard some sort of confrontation or a struggle outside and heard a loud cracking sound,” said Lt. David Rohowits with San Diego police.

The son said he saw two male suspects but told officers the men were difficult to identify Rohowits said.

Both victims were hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat. The teenager was knocked out. When he awoke, the suspects were gone and he called for police.

Police believe the suspects were trying to rob the home, though an official account of what may have been taken has not been completed.
