Two women argued early Thursday at a downtown homeless shelter. Now one of the women is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg and the other is under arrest.

San Diego police are investigating the shooting near 1st and Cedar Street around 5 a.m.

Officers arrested the suspect, a 45-year-old woman, about two hours later. She was described by the victim as a woman with short red hair, wearing a pink jacket and white shoes with a cheetah animal print roller suitcase.

After the shooting, the victim returned to the shelter and was taken to Mercy Hospital.

The suspect was arrested near Mission Hills around 7 a.m.
