Two brush fires sparked up in Bonsall Wednesday afternoon but were contained shortly after, according to Cal Fire.

The fires near I-15 and SR-76 started at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday and were contained at about 3 p.m.

Fire authorities said they were spreading at a moderate rate, but were not a threat to structures as of 2:45 p.m.

Cal Fire Captain Mike Mohler said the fires were likely started by a car malfunction. Cal Fire is investigating.
