Irvine Firm Buys Club Pilates Founded by S.D. Woman

Irvine-based LAG Fit Inc. has acquired Club Pilates, a franchised chain of 35 Pilates studios in the U.S. and Australia.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Club Pilates founder Allison Beardsley established the brand in 2007 in San Diego; she retains a 25 percent stake in the company and will remain involved in operations.

LAG Chief Executive Anthony Geisler in 2013 sold his Santa Ana-based LA Boxing franchise system, which included 60 locations in 23 states, to UFC Gyms, an offshoot of the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts organization owned by Zuffa LLC in Las Vegas.

Club Pilates is scouting more than 50 locations to expand its offerings, which include classes and training programs geared toward various levels of Pilates enthusiasts.

The exercises aim to enhance concentration, control and breathing.
