Miley Cyrus Joins ‘The Voice' as Key Adviser

Miley Cyrus dropped some big news on social media Wednesday afternoon, saying she will hold the title of key adviser for the show's upcoming season.

"Lickin @xtina buttonz!" Cyrus shared on both Instagram and Facebook while on the set of NBC's popular series. "@nbcthevoice #keyadviser #season10."

In her role, the "We Can't Stop" singer will help mentor contestants from Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams' respective teams. In past seasons, the key adviser has also helped contestants during the competitive knockout rounds.

Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Chris Martin have all held the title in recent seasons. “When Miley speaks everyone pays attention. Our artists are very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom," Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment president, alternative and late night programming, said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rumors have also been circulating that Gwen Stefani could be returning to the series in some capacity for Season 10.

Just last month, NBC presidents Bob Greenblatt and Paul Telegdy hinted that the lead singer of No Doubt wouldn't be gone for too long. When asked if she could serve as an adviser for one of the coaches, Greenblatt responded with a "maybe."

"We're announcing those advisers in the next couple of weeks but she's very close to the show," he said. Telegdy added, "We'd love to see Gwen back. She's a great friend of this network, we love her, the audience loves her, lots of people love her."

Season 10 of "The Voice" returns Monday, Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. only on NBC.
