OLIVEYOU: When you hear the word Temecula, your first thought may be wine country but are you aware it’s also a great region for olives and olive oil? Thom Curry, a certified Master Taster, is well aware. Curry and the folks at the Temecula Olive Oil Company offer a unique weekend trip that will leave you dreaming of the Mediterranean.

TASTE AND TOUR: The olive ranch is open for tours the second Saturday of each month starting at 10 a.m. Kids 12 and under are free and $15 ticket will get any adult in. If extra cash is escaping you at the moment, try the free tasting bar at the back of the shop. You’ll be able to try everything from olive oils to vinegars.

KEEPING TRADITION ALIVE: California has a rich tradition in olives and olive oil. In fact, the first olive trees were planted at the Mission in San Diego. Before you leave the ranch, be sure to pick up your own olive tree for $10-$20. A great way for you to remember the trip and reap the rewards!
