I know it's Thursday night, and I know there are a lot of great things to dom but if you want to see an amazing show, do yourself a favor and see Thievery Corporation and AM & Shawn Lee tonight at the House of Blues.
Admittedly reggae and dub and trip-hop aren't my thing, but after seeing the show on Wednesday night, I can honestly say I was impressed with the showmanship all the way through. AM & Shawn Lee kicked off the night (and the tour) with a set of music from their appropriately named collaboration, Celestial Electric, which was released Tuesday. Not knowing what Thievery Corporation would bring, I don't want to ruin any surprises, but with a seven-piece band and seven rotating vocalists, the energy never quits, and with a set that lasted more than two hours, you're certainly getting your money's worth.
If that doesn't suit your fancy, Telekinesis and Dirty Gold kick off the San Diego Music Thing weekend at the Casbah, Atari Teenage Riot take over Porter's Pub at UCSD, and Jesse Nova, currently featured on VH1's Fantasy Band Camp, performs a free show at West Coast Tavern.
