Vampire Weekend return to San Diego for the first time since December 2009. The band saw a meteoric rise and fall in the blogosphere but are still beloved by true fans.

It's my birthday, and I'm lucky to live in a city that has endless ways to enjoy my night ... maybe even too many choices.
If I was so inclined, I could head over to Soma to see Vampire Weekend rock out with great openers Beach House and the Very Best, but I think I'm gonna save Soma for Spoon on Friday. This means I can head up to UCSD to catch a great lineup as the Loft gets into full swing of their fall quarter, go to Belly Up for Jamie Lidell, get my rock en espanol on with Ely Guerra at Brick By Brick or check out Dragonette at the Casbah. Whatever I decide, I think I'll kick off my night with a mule over at Starlite for a Three Mile Pilot CD release and listening party. That is how San Diego rocks, and that's how I roll.
Tuesday Sept. 28:
Three Mile Pilot CD release/listening party @ Starlite
Vampire Weekend, Beach House, the Very Best @ Soma
Street Fighter II Tournament of Champions! @ Soda Bar
The Midi Mafia, Pittsburgh Slim, DJ Schoney @ Voyeur
The Stilettos @ Henry's Pub

Tomcat Courtney @ LaGran Tapa
Doug Allen, Suzy Bongo @ The Kraken
Open Mic @ O'Connell's
