Earlier this year, I traveled to Texas for South By Southwest. Before I left, I caught the Fling at the Casbah. A few days later, my travel buddies and I found ourselves at a gas station somewhere outside of El Paso, and we ran into the Fling, who were gassing up while wearing wigs and filming some of their adventures in the attached mini-mart. A couple days after that, we were in the middle of the Austin craziness, and it seemed that everywhere I went, I would run into the Fling.

This is not a bad thing, because they're all awesome and hilarious guys, but you especially want to stumble into them when they're playing, because their music is fantastic and they're certainly a band to watch. I saw them perform twice in Austin and have caught them several times as they've passed through San Diego. Tonight they're playing a free show at MaryJane's Underground at the Hard Rock Hotel. The show kicks off at 10 p.m. with the Short Eyes and will be done by midnight, so you still have plenty of time to sleep. Then again, maybe they'll put you in the mood for an all-night rager. You never know. Tonight you'll find out.
