The new year is kicking off rather quietly, with few options for live music compared to a typical weekend, but that doesn't mean you still can't get your fix. You might want to head up to the Belly Up for reggae legend Pato Banton, check out some under-the-radar bands over at Tin Can or enjoy a mellow evening with San Diego mainstay Gregory Page as he takes the stage named after him at Lestat's.
If you're not into karaoke, salsa or open mic, you can spend your Sunday evening enjoying the blues at Soda Bar. Several other venues are either closed or not booking live music this weekend, so plan accordingly and brace yourself for the new year of new music coming your way.
