In January, the Casbah will be celebrating 24 years as a music venue here in San Diego. Along with that, they'll have some great shows featuring bands who have seen varying degrees of success, including many reunions and sub-celebrations. But why wait until January when one of San Diego's biggest success stories is performing a special show on this perfect night in December?
Louis XIV exploded onto the radio after finding success in Europe and there was a time when you couldn't turn on alternative radio without hearing any one of their hits. The band eventually went on an indefinite hiatus and members are all active in other musical endeavors, but on Thursday you can see a reunion of sorts as the group returns to the tiny Casbah stage. The Howls and Boy King open up the show and make this the best option in town.
