In early May, SoundDiego broke an exclusive tip that Grammy-award winner Ben Harper would be among this year's headliners.

This year marks the opening of the Seaside Stage, on which all the acts will perform. All concerts are free with racetrack admission. If you want to skip the races and just watch the band, you'll have to fork over $20 after the final race.

Friday concerts are open to kids under 18 who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Del Mar holds races Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. (except Friday races, which start at 4 p.m.). Other events this season feature a Gourmet Food Truck Festival on Aug. 20, the Miss Cougar Del Mar Contest, on July 29, and the $1 Million TVG Pacific Classic on Aug. 28.

Among the musical highlights last year at the track were shows by Weezer, the Soft Pack, the English Beat, Pinback, B52s and ZZ Top. The venue has also hosted top talent in the past, including Billy Idol, Flaming Lips, Ziggy Marley, Devo, Alice in Chains, Violent Femmes, Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson.

Remember, the Del Mar Concert Series is not to be confused with the San Diego County Fair Summer Series, which will feature Switchfoot, Bruno Mars and others. (Click here for that full rundown.)
