Kaaboo Announces 2016 Music Lineup

Jimmy Buffett, Aerosmith and Jack Johnson headline Kaaboo 2016 in September

Hope you're ready for oodles of Kaaboodles -- because the full lineup for 2016's Kaaboo entertainment and arts fest was just announced, and it's a veritable smorgasbord of musicality.

Yeah, that's right: a smorgasbord, complete with "Margaritaville" puns, compliments of headliner Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefers. Keying up the other headlining spots are rock & roll mammoths Aerosmith, pop punk gods Fall Out Boy and acoustic kingpin Jack Johnson. Ah, but let us not forget Lenny Kravitz, the Avett Brothers, Grouplove, Jason Isbell, Shakey Graves and Sugar -- what?! -- Sugar Ray, yoyeah, it’s a McGrath attack, baby.

There's also going to be a late-night dance party for the 18+ crew, where DJs including the Chainsmokers, Steve Aoki, Ludacris, Matoma, Rac and Andrew Luce will be spinning into the wee hours of the morning.

More than 60 bands in all (scope the lineup below) take to the Del Mar Fairgrounds Sept. 16-18 for the second iteration of Kaaboo, which debuted in 2015 to the tune of No Doubt, the Killers and the Zac Brown Band.

Though its debut was wildly successful ("Rolling Stone" named it one of the nation’s Top 5 fests last year), the Kaaboo powers that be are introducing a few changes, like moving the Grand View stage into the infield and the Palate Stage outside so that culinary programming can join in on the musical fun, too. Organizers promise to announce more upgrades come June, but the music and comedy bills [check out the comedy lineup here] are enough to satiate us for now -- and, apparently, for the next 10 years to come. In an effort to squash hella Kaaboo-boo rumors, the festival’s team has confirmed that Kaaboo has been granted a five-year contract at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, along with as many as five one-year extensions on top of that. Whew. That’s commitment enough to stave off any abandonment issues we’ve got (#baggage, bro).

Of course, along with the music and laughs come great food and craft libations. Passes for the whole three-day “mix-perience” start at $249 (with lots of upgrade and payment-plan options) and are on sale now.
