“How Sweet it is to be Loved By You”

One of America’s most famous songwriting groups, Holland-Dozier-Holland, received some well-deserved praise on Thursday, by accepting the Johnny Mercer Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame .

The oldies group that has brought us those feel-good, familiar hits such as: “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “You Can’t Hurry Love” and “I Cant Help Myself” were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1988 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

With such genius lyrics and catchy beats, it is no wonder their songs have had more airplay than the Rolling Stones, Elvis and the Beatles combined, according to TheOldGlobe.org.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame honors those whose work represents a spectrum of the most beloved songs, which have provided us with the words and music that form the soundtrack to our lives.
