A Rose Is a Rose Is a Parade

A local man's boyhood aspirations were fulfilled again on Thursday on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena.

Since he was a little kid, San Diego native Adam Ostegard liked to draw pretty pictures and design things. On Wednesday morning in Burbank, Rose Parade judges looked at his spectacular float design and made their marks.  On New Year's Day, he saw his work proudly parade down Colorado Boulevard in the 120th Rose Parade.

Ostegard is a 1992 graduate of Grossmont High School. The float he designed represents the City of Burbank, his current hometown, which is participating for the 75th year participating in the parade.

This year’s parade theme,  Hats off to Entertainment, showcases  America and its many entertainers, past and present, as well as the entertainment industry itself.

Ostegard's whimsical float, Burbank Drive-In, a 3-D Double Feature, creatively displays three dogs watching a dinosaur movie in 3-D glasses and features spaceships, popcorn, hot dogs, sodas and orange Creamsicles, all intricately created from roses, flowers and  seeds.

This is not the first time Ostegard's’s had a float in the Rose Parade.  In 2006 he designed a Doggie Car Wash for Burbank.
