Even the most hard core Drill Instructors at MCRD San Diego get a day off once in a while! Here is a close-up of my Marine at one of the animal shows at the San Diego Zoo. The world famous San Diego Zoo is Ssgt Jeremiah Wood's favorite place to relax when he has a little time off.

This is my daughter Cpl Cortaza Hall in Iraq with HMH466 AVI expecting to return soon from Iraq. I'm very proud of her, She has done an outstanding job as a Marine. Its strange to watch your daughter grow up and go to college, then join the Marine Corps. I'm her father still in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton. She is my hero. I'm very proud of her.

NBC, This is my good friend Dessie Johnson. She is also our (Volunteer) Administrator to our Rock Church, Military Ministry. She is vital in assisting families just like herself stay connected to their faith, family and support system. Her husband is an amazing husband and father. During his recent deployment he customized a pair of pink NIke running shoes with her name on the back for her birthday and had them shipped right to the house. They are a very strong family who demonstrate devotion and strength for all of us. Glynn just got back from deployment right before Thanksgiving. Sincerely, Tessa Cruz MIlitary Ministry Leader, Rock Church Hello my name is Dessie Johnson and I wanted to share my story. My husband is an FC2 on board the CVN76 otherwise known as USS Ronald Reagan. As much as he misses us when he is gone, it?s the family he leaves behind that misses the most. Here is a picture of our kids watching a video book he sent them for the billionth time. Deployments don?t get easier: you just learn to hug them, tell them how much you love them and will miss them, and wait for homecoming day. It may be on an airstrip in nowhere, in the middle of the night 5 hours from where you live. Or for us a huge crowd planted on a street crying and hugging strangers because the carrier with your man on it is rounding the bend and he is at that point a tiny black dot in dress blues lining the flight deck. God Bless our Troops and Bless the families that carry on in their absence.

This is our friend Mathew Rodriguez. He is a Marine Sargent stationed here in San Diego. He has had 6 or 7 deployments to Iraq. Recently he set a record time for the Marines in Physical Fitness testing, all time fastest! He is a fine young man with a huge heart & love for others and service to our country. If his photo will be featured I would sure like a heads up a day ahead of time so we can record it. Thanks, Becky Wexler
